“Out of the three, Harri’s track might be the best-sounding one I’ve done. But without label approval, it’s just sitting there right now.” – OONNI

Independent producer and artist OONNI has pulled back the curtain on a trio of remix projects he’s completed over the past few weeks, reworking original material from Brodie, TJ (Thomas Gilbridge), and Harri. All three tracks were reconstructed in Ableton Live using a familiar toolkit of vocal effects, stereo sculpting, and rhythmic restructuring, but each came with its own unique production and communication hurdles.

“Every remix was done kind of the same way technically, using similar effects and chains, but each artist gave me different types of access,” said OONNI. “Brodie was super communicative, TJ was busy but reachable — and Harri was basically a ghost.”

The remix for Brodie was the most collaborative. Using Snapchat and email, OONNI and Brodie worked closely, making adjustments like pulling back on glitch elements in the piano sections when requested. The result was a clean, dynamic track shaped by constant feedback.

In contrast, TJ’s remix involved more of a restoration job. The stems arrived messy — vocals out of sync and full of pops and artifacts. OONNI manually warped and cleaned the files using tools like G-Snap, ChannelV, and Serum FX.

“He was cool with trying new stuff, even suggested I throw in a phone ring and pickup sound to help build a story. I think it added to the emotional side of the song,” OONNI said.

TJ’s track was initially rejected by LANDR due to metadata issues — remix info was placed in the title field, and no remixer was credited. After correcting those (moving “OONNI Edit” into the Version field and listing himself under the Remixer role), the track was successfully resubmitted. With no artwork provided, OONNI designed it himself using AI tools and stylized it in Glitch Lab.

But it was the Harri remix that stalled. Despite creating what he considers the most sonically solid track out of the three, OONNI says he’s been unable to move forward.

“I only got one bit of feedback from Harri. He said it needed a few bits added but overall it was good. Then nothing. I’ve chased for weeks — no label updates, no permission to upload. It’s just in limbo.”

The workflow for all three remixes followed the same path — Gmail and Google Drive were used to send stems and bounces, just like in previous collaborations. But where Brodie and TJ were responsive, Harri’s lack of contact turned the final stage into a waiting game.

Looking ahead, OONNI says there’s potential to push these remixes further — especially if clearance comes through.

“There’s still more that could be done with these, maybe turn them into a full remix project if I can get final sign-off. For now, I’m proud of the work. I just wish I could actually share all of it.”
